Peter Moore Smith: Advertising

Peter Moore Smith: Advertising

Career History

In 1988 I started work at Edelmann Scott Advertising in Richmond, Virginia. It was my first real job out of college. I worked there for four years writing catalog copy, business-to-business print, healthcare advertising, brochures and press releases until I became disgusted with the entire advertising business and left, hoping to make it as a bass player in New York.

I spent a few months in 1993 drifting around the city auditioning for bands until I ran out of money and started freelancing at BBDO. Within a month or so I was hired full time. The next decade is actually a blur. At BBDO, I’ve been fortunate to write spots and campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands: Visa, Pepsi, GE, Pizza Hut, Hyatt, FedEx, HBO, and nearly every other BBDO client. I was the creator of the award-winning Visa Check Card campaign, which featured Deon Sanders, Shirley MacClean, Daffy Duck, Linda Evanglista, Tony Bennett, Pierce Brosnon, and other celebs. Over the years I’ve won my share of awards, including Addys, Gold Lions, Gold and Silver Pencils, and even an Effie or two.
