Executive Creative Director, Copywriter

Bio

After studying writing and English literature at Virginia Commonwealth University, I began my advertising career as a copywriter at a small agency in Virginia called Edelman Scott.

After a few years I moved to NYC and joined BBDO, where I was fortunate to create campaigns for an amazing collection of national brands, including Pepsi, Visa, GE, Pizza Hut, and many others. Before leaving BBDO, I was promoted to ECD.

From BBDO, I moved to Publicis, where I became the Global ECD for Citi, running a large department in New York and managing the account in offices all over the world.

After Publicis, I joined the New York office of Saatchi & Saatchi, where I became ECD on all of their General Mills business, creating work for Cheerios, Yoplait, Chase, Duracell, and Walmart. Before leaving Saatchi, I served as Chief Creative Officer.

Over the course of my career, I have won just about every industry award . . . Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils, Clios, Effies, and many others.

I have also found time to write and publish short stories in literary magazines, two acclaimed novels (Raveling and Los Angeles, both from Little Brown), and one award-winning independent movie (Forgetting the Girl).

For the past several years, I have worked as a screenwriter and freelance creative director. Most recently, I created a campaign for a European electric truck called Volta.
